Highlights from the past week.......

Not exactly getting ready for Christmas.......but Alli was just in the mood to make some paper chains & Charlie sure enjoyed playing with them!
He says, 'I am hot stuff!'

Last Saturday evening, Ashley & I went to the first play of the new 2010-2011 theater season at LU.....'Hairspray'

It was in the brand new Tower Theater which seats 650 people! They have played to a sold-out audience for each performance & even had to add in an extra evening because of the awesome response they had. The play was EXCELLENT......the best we've been to so far!! Linda Nell certainly does a terrific job with these kids!

Ashley & I got to TRBC a tad early.....so we could get our tickets at the box office & find our way around the new Tower Theater. So, while we waited for the play to start...we walked out to the parking lot on the stadium side & watched as they had the kick-off for the first LU home game in the newly renovated William's Stadium. They also played to a sold-out crowd of 19,000! The kids were kind of sad that we missed their first home game, but we have tickets to go to the Homecoming game this coming Saturday.

This past Saturday was also opening day of bow season here. The boys both hunted but neither got anything that day. But, our neighbor, Paul did. He got a 5 pt. buck & since they really don't care for the meat on a buck (they say it's too tough) he wanted to know if we wanted it. I thought it was so thoughtful of them to think of us!! So, they boys went over there Sunday afternoon to get the quartered meat & we set up production in the kitchen again.

Jon cuts, Michael grinds & weighs it for me & I put it in freezer bags & into the freezer.

Just a sampling of our fresh burger. Between the deer Michael got on Youth day & this one that Paul gave us we have put 36 lbs of deer burger in our freezer! PTL!! We will be enjoying some yummy chili, lasagna, spaghetti, etc this winter.

I wasn't feeling very creative the other day.....but needed to make some Birthday & anniversary cards for October. So....I pulled out some blank cards that I had picked up at ACM, some paints, stamps, etc. & just started playing. And here's what I came up with. I'm really happy with how things turned out!

Here are a couple of close-ups to show some of the cool details like the paint splatters & the gold puffy glitter glue......

Wow that's a lot of meat you don't have to buy. I guess it tastes reasonably close to cow's meat?

In the photo of your 3 cards all lined up, I thought at first they were huge cement retaining walls. I thought you got the idea from your cards off of these walls with murals painted on them!
I love those cards. Tell me how you did the outlines of the leaves? With ink or water colors? Very classy looking!

Oh man, the deer meat is awesome! It just doesn't have the fat in it like normal burger so therefore it's not as good just grilled as a hamburger, but in stuff like spaghettis, chili, lasagna.....you'd never know the difference!!
