Ta-Daaaaaaaa..............

I have to tease a bit first & show y'all my latest scrappy creation. My cuz, Wendy is 'De-Light-Ful' in her floofy, ruffly black shawl thingie that she got for Christmas. I pleated & stapled the Christmas ribbon to mimic the ruffles she was wearing. We had so much fun that night!!

*********************

And without further ado........I give you my Granny Stripe blanket.

A close-up of the edging. First, I used the rose to make a row of granny clusters all the way around. Then 3 rows of double crochet in Honey Dew, Turqua & finally Carrot. And conintuing with the Carrot to make the last little row of picot trim.

Spread out the length of our bed in all it's loveliness!

And one final shot with my matching pillows & my hand-made-by-Aunt Mamie Sock Monkey.

Let's see.....some of the particulars.........The yarn & colors......I used Red Heart Supersaver yarn in 16 different colors which are as follows. Med. Purple, Lt. Blue, Cherry Red, Turqua, Honey Dew, Windsor Blue, Carrot, Gold, Aruba Sea, Burgandy, Corn Meal, Tea Leaf, Delft Blue, Pale Pink, Rose & Plum. 48 double striped rows. 88" long x 60" wide. It took me basically about 4 months to complete. I started it a little before Christmas time & finished it up a few nights ago. I totally enjoyed working on this & know we will enjoy USING it now!

Waffles at 10:15..............

Yep, you read that right.......I was in the kitchen making homemade waffles at 10:15pm. We had eaten supper (egg sandwiches) about 4:30pm because we were leaving at 5pm going to Ashley Cates' senior recital........& since we ate so early, everyone was hungry when we got home. Her recital was terrific. This girl has a voice, I tell ya!

Afterwards....hugging her vocal coach of 4 years.

Only Sarah.......showing me how she fit perfectly in the space between the pews! Don't think Daniel is very impressed.

Ashley & her vocal coach, Trish Campbell

Me, Ashley B, Ashley C, Chris, Jon & Alli

Aren't they cute?!

Daniel loved hangin' with the big guys. He was especially enthralled with Matt....he told him he was cooler than Jon & he wanted Matt to come home with them! Pretty big compliment from a 6 year old.

My Front Porch

The boys & I cleaned off the front porch yesterday......getting it summer-ready. Meaning they moved all the left-over wood from the cold months back out to the wood pile. We swept/cleaned & moved the glider back in place & put the grill back out there. Now.......I'm ready to enjoy my mornings or afternoons or evenings.....whenever I have a free minute....sitting out there reading & just soaking up the view. It really is pretty this time of year, so I thought I'd share it with you.

Off to the north side of the yard

Taken while sitting on the glider....looking across the front field toward the rail road track.

We had spaghetti for supper tonight, but Ashley wanted to try a new recipe she had found in a magazine. Sauteed zucchini & cherry tomotoes over our fettuccine pasta.....topped with some low-fat ricotta & mint leaves. I had a taste & it was really good & so prettyt on her plate!

The $5 Dinner Mom

Anyone else read this book? I just happened upon it at the library the other day & thought it might be interesting so I checked it out. I tell ya.....I want my own copy!! Lots of awesome shopping/coupon tips & lots of wonderfully easy healthy made from scratch recipes.

Scrap Stuff

Just a couple scrappy layouts that I've done in the past few days. This first one was of our anniversary. And I'm trying desperately to finish up Christmas pics from this past year. I one more LO on the table & one more after that & I'll be done!!

These are just some random pics from our Christmas evening at Maw's house.

Pics from yesterday

Was fixing my lunch yesterday & just thought it looked so pretty on my stripey plate.....& you know how I'm always forgetting to take pics of my suppers......so I figured, why not? Turkey, ham & spinach wrap with honey mustard dipping sauce, apple slices & the last hard-boiled Easter egg. After lunch I decided to go outside & take a few pictures. Our Spirea bush off the front porch had just exploded in bloom the day before & I thought it was SO pretty!

Our freshly plowed & planted garden......

I tried getting some good shots of our new little orchard too.....but it just didn't show up here as good as in real life. Oh well, you get the idea.

I think we have eight new apple & peach trees out there.

Ashely's raspberries

Our strawberry patch...off to the side of the garden....beside the raspberries.

Working on the 'edge-of-the-edge' of my Granny Stripe now.......I'm in the home stretch.

Was able to grill our supper last night before the storm came up. AND I remembered to snap a picture.....aren't you proud? LOL

We had yummy BBQed wings, onion rings & steamed broccoli.

Happy Easter!

'He is not here: for he is risen, as he said.' ~~ Matt. 18:6We had an awesome church service this morning & then we all gathered at Maw's house for Easter lunch. Sarah & her family didn't get there til a little later, so that's why I only have pics here of my girls & Ella's girls. Wanted to get everyone in their pretty dresses, but Taylor was just too fast in changing for me.

Maw's flowers make such a pretty background for our pictures!

My ever-goofy Jon wearing Jesse's shorts on his head. We all laughed & said it looked like some prfessor in his fancy graduation cap.....complete with tassle too.

Daniel & Jesse were really into watching Chris play his video game. Don't you just love the expression on Jesse's face?!

Ashley made the yummy carrot cake with cream cheese frosting & toasted coconut topping. And Alli painted that cute little bunny rabbit to sit on Maw's table.

Today just so happened to be Jesse's 7th birthday, so we added 7 candles & everyone sang 'Happy Birthday' to him.

Daniel is still keeping a close eye on Chris.

Dillon & Jon

After lunch & birthday cake, the girls moved into the living room to make friendship bracelets. Anna's Grammy had given her a cool book with directions on how to make them & we supplied the floss. I cleaned out my closet the other week & found a bunch of my old cross-stitch stuff. I had NO idea how much of a floss stash I had. This was just ONE Gallon ziploc bag full. I still have a whole other gallon bag full that I didn't take. This kept them all busy for a good while.

They're 'just a swingin'.......

Again, Jon being his goofy self wanted me to take his picture with Ella

Then he wanted Ella to take one of me & him.......

I think they turned out so cute. I can NOT wait to scrap these!!!

By the way......notice Jon's 'Tie Shirt'........he said he was going to 'dress up' today......hence the tie. LOL!! And on closer examination you see the '71' on the front.....it's a Liberty University T & it has the small 71 on the front & a big 71 with Falwell across the back......commemorating the year the college started. Sarah was having a fit wanting to know where we got it because she wanted one like it.........the BEST part...........it came from the $ bin at Good Will!

Jon just HAD to pop his face right in the middle here too. He's so funny. Gotta love him!

So cute of Cori & Jesse.......he just was being a goof with me (just like Jon) & squinched his eyes shut right when I snapped.

Another sweet one.........these two love each other SO much! What a fun day we had. Think I'm going to go watch 'Phantom of the Opera' with Ashley for a while now & then head on up to bed.
